Star Trek Into Darkness Trailer: 5 Reasons You Should Be Excited

The first teaser trailer for J.J. Abrams' Star Trek Into Darkness has just hit the web and the fan flurry has begun. Speculation, criticism and adulation are all flying high right now, but all I can offer is a single fan's reaction: excitement. Maybe you aren't feeling the same way? Not to worry, as I've concocted five simple reasons why you should be eager to boldly go where no one has gone before come May 17th of next year. Hopefully, they will get you as excited as a Vulcan going through pon farr. ...Yeah, I'm a geek. First off, here's the trailer again... http://youtu.be/diP-o_JxysA And here are my five reasons you should be excited about the epic looking sequel...

5. The Scale

Not one to slack off for a sequel, Abrams looks to have upped the ante on overall bigness for Star Trek Into Darkness. Most of the shots in the trailer look vast and imposing. There's a real sense of "the bigger, the better" and that's almost always a good way to go with a franchise. Considering the first film didn't slump when it came to sizable threats and gigantic set-pieces, it looks like scaling back isn't something we have to worry about in the sequel. Just look at the images of the Enterprise coming out of the water and also crashing into it. Big, bad things are about to befall the Federation.
