Star Wars: 10 Giant Plot-Holes You Probably Missed

7. Stormtroopers Have Armor Made of Toilet Paper?

stormtroopers Yes, it's the ultimate in hotly-debated-among-Star-Wars-nerds plot allowance: Why are the Stormtroopers equipped and trained so badly? For starters, they can't hit a stationary target from a few feet away. Somebody tried explaining how the chances of them firing their guns on a day-to-day basis was so low that they wouldn't be effective shooters, but I don't buy it. They must still have training, and being stationed at Tatooine or on the Death Star won't present much in the way of time killing, so target practice would become a common trooper hobby or task. Plus, those that are stationed on the Death Star would probably have been the more elite of troopers, meeting the need to defend the Empire's greatest weapon. This also applies to the appalling shooting and piloting capabilities of its TIE fighter pilots, the main defense against, say, a Rebel squadron attack on the explosion-inducing exhaust vent. So their offence is terrible, that must mean their defence is pretty good, right? Nope, the Stormtroopers wear heavily restricting uniforms of heavy set chunks of armor. This impairs their movement greatly but makes them look terrifying as a military force and *ahem* a cinematic device. But is that small advantage worth it considering the fact that whatever it is made from makes the armor block bullets worse than female video game armor looks like it should? Even Leia can take out squads of these troopers with ease while they fail to hit the air around her. Stormtroopers really are cannon fodder, and it wasn't until the prequels that the droids provided something even worse for us to laugh at.
