Star Wars: 10 Spin-Off Movies We'd Like To See

10. Star Wars Origins: Palpatine

The original trilogy of Star Wars films showed us a galaxy under the control of the Empire, led by the wrinkly Sith Lord Darth Sidious and his black-suited lackey Darth Vader. The prequels told us exactly how Vader came to be and how the Emperor climbed the power ladder, but the film saga has never shown us the events that crafted Palpatine into an aspiring despot and cold-hearted killer. In Revenge Of The Sith, then-chancellor Palpatine implied to the yet-to-be-turned Anakin Skywalker that he€™d previously been a pupil to Darth Plagueis. According to Palpatine, this Sith Lord was so powerful that he could €œinfluence the midichlorians and create life€ as well as €œkeeping those he loved from dying.€ Plagueis taught his pupil everything he knew, before the apprentice killed the master in his sleep. This sounds like an enthralling idea for a movie that could show a power struggle between two immensely intimidating Sith who both wish to control the galaxy. A direct line between Palpatine and Plagueis was only ever drawn in the Expanded Universe, so it'd be a big deal for fans to see these events made canon on the big screen. You could picture it as a sci-fi spin on The Godfather, with Plagueis sitting as the don of an evil collective and a young Palpatine vying for his throne. The two could clash with words, ideals and lightsabers before Sidious eventually, brutally rises to power. Sounds cool, doesn€™t it?
