Star Wars: 20 Worst Franchise Moments (So Far)

Film: Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith

General Grievous isn't great in Revenge of the Sith. In the 2004 Clone Wars series, the Expanded Universe and the later Clone Wars TV show he got his due, but in ROTS he's under-used and is never truly seen in action. When he is, it's one of the most disappointing action scenes in the franchise, in which he wields an incredible four lightsabers at the same time... only for Obi-Wan to take them out almost immediately.

It is outrageous to introduce a character with four lightsabers and then have him barely use them before settling for a bland chase and gunfight. For all its flaws ROTS is full of cracking action scenes but this was very anticlimactic and underwhelming. As well as this, for such a powerful cyborg Grievous was far too easy to kill.

In the end, Grievous feels more or less inessential to the film and is basically just there to pad out the film prior to Anakin's fall to the Dark Side. Grievous was eventually revealed as a strong villain, but one shouldn't have to access spin-off materials just to see a character in action properly.
