Star Wars Episode 8: Have Set Leaks Confirmed A Major Lightsaber Duel?
Kylo Ren's getting that crossguard out again.
Adam Driver's arrival in Ireland alongside co-stars Daisy Ridley and Mark Hamill, first reported in MakingStarWars, has set the rumour mill for Star Wars Episode VIII into overdrive, with fans desperately speculating over the possibility of Ren continuing his pursuit of Rey and facing off against her and Luke Skywalker on Ahch-To.
The theory is certainly in keeping with what has transpired in the previous movie: having suffered an embarrassing defeat at Rey's hands during the climactic lightsaber duel, Kylo Ren has the motive to seek out revenge as well as the means to discover her location. A scene bringing these characters together would be a huge moment, not only due to the inherent conflict, but also the fascinating secrets that could be revealed.
Director Rian Johnson, who first came to attention with his independent film Brick and has since gone on to direct Looper and several acclaimed episodes of AMC's Breaking Bad, is now past the halfway mark in the film's shooting schedule, having kept tight reins on the project with no major leaks emerging to date. J.J. Abrams will be proud.
Star Wars: Episode 8 is due for release on December 15th 2017.
