Star Wars: Episode VIII - 8 Things Fans Want (But Won't Get)

1. The Secret Of Rey's Parentage

A lot of people probably assumed that Episode VIII would be the film where we'd discover what's going on with Rey and who her parents are - and rightly so. It was annoying enough that J.J. Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan left the notion of her backstory so darn ambiguous in Episode VII anyway, so the sequel should provide the answers, right? Well, just because the next movie should provide the answers doesn't mean that it actually will. According to Colin Trevorrow, audiences aren't going to get an explanation with regards to Rey and her abandonment on Jakku until Episode IX - in 2019! Here's what Trevorrow told Entertainment Tonight early this month:
"We€™re going to make sure that that answer is deeply and profoundly satisfying. Rey is a character that is important in this universe, not just in the context of The Force Awakens, but in the entire galaxy. She deserves it. We€™ll make sure that that answer is something that feels like it was something that happened a long time ago, far away, and we€™re just telling you what happened."
Which means that, despite the fact that fans are gagging for Rey's backstory to be revealed in the next chapter of the saga, it's unlikely to happen. Disney really are playing the long game with this one, apparently - to the endless frustration of millions. Argh! Like this article? Do you agree or disagree with the points? Would you like to see these aspects in Episode VIII but are afraid they won't happen? Let us know in the comments.
