Arguably just as critical to the Star Wars canon as a whole is not just where the land is set, but also when the land is set. And it turns out, Disney is absolutely swinging for the fences in this regard.

The narrative that guest will witness unfold before their very eyes in Galaxy's Edge is set in-between the events of The Last Jedi and the as-of-yet-untitled Episode IX. For starters, this means that mainline characters such as Rey, Poe, Kylo Ren, and Finn will all make appearances in the park in one way or another, played by their respective actors.

But perhaps even more interestingly, this means the land will be completely canon. These are events meant to have literally taken place in the Star Wars galaxy, putting guests right in the middle of the franchise in more ways than one. Disney execs have also been quick to point out that the land is far from limited in terms of growth, hinting that the land could potentially evolve to fit canonically within various different times in the Star Wars franchise.
