Star Wars: Is The Unaltered Original Trilogy Finally Coming To Blu-Ray?!

It's long been held that we'd never get to see the original Star Wars trilogy as George Lucas originally intended them to be seen on blu-ray. But now it seems there could be some hope for the unaltered films coming to a high-definition TV near you.

Making Star Wars is recirculating a rumour that the unedited trilogy - that's shorn of all of Lucas' later tinkering - could be getting a release on Blu-ray and various formats in line with the franchise’s 40th anniversary.

Nothing is set in stone just yet, but it'd be huge news for Star Wars purists (and a huge financial boost for Disney who must be struggling for cash these days...)

Lucas' meddling with the originals has long been a source of great annoyance to fans, with edits made seemingly for the sake of it. And while some actually improved the trilogy, there were others that were absolutely unnecessary...
