Star Wars: Rogue One - 10 Major Plot Clues From The Final Trailer

The new (and last) Rogue One trailer is the best yet, but is also heavy on the plot hints.

Just incase you weren't already ridiculously excited for Rogue One (please explain yourself), Disney have just dropped a huge new (and supposedly final) trailer for the upcoming 'Star Wars Story'.

They've saved the best for last (well, until we start getting various international trailers and a rogue squadron of TV spots), with a trailer that doubles-down on everything the film has promised: it's still recognisably Star Wars, but also with a darker, dirtier, and grittier feel than anything we've seen before.

There's more Darth Vader, a first glimpse of Mads Mikkelsen's Galen Erso, huge explosions, large scale battles, and an overwhelming sense this movie really is going to deliver. A big focus of the trailer is on hope, and it's difficult not to have extremely high hopes for the film after watching it.

What this trailer doesn't do, however - in contrast to the mostly tight The Force Awakens trailers - is keep its secrets. If there's one criticism you can make, it's that the new footage gives a heck of a lot of clues towards the actual plot of the film.

Then again, the outcome was spoilt back in 1977, so it's difficult to cry spoiler, but still worth looking at what hints the new trailer holds.

10. It'll Start With A Flashback

The trailer opens with a young Orson Krennic flying down to the home of Galen and Jyn Erso - approximately around 15 years before the events of the movie, based on the age of Jyn here.

It's a bit simplistic to assume that opening the trailer = opening the film, but in this case it would make a fair bit of sense. The trailer makes it look as though this is Jyn having a flashback, so it'd fit to open with it, then cut to her in prison, and then begin the movie in the proper timeline.

The only other placement for the flashback would maybe be when she's brought before Mon Mothma and told about the message from her father, but that would risk interrupting the flow of the movie at that point. So it seems like what we're seeing here is how the movie begins: Krennic taking Galen, and Jyn witnessing this and then running away.
