With Rogue One now finally released around the world, fans are getting to experience Gareth Edwards' epic journey for themselves, and fans and critics alike seem to have mostly fallen in love with what the Godzilla director cooked up, despite the much-discussed production issues.

As with any big blockbuster, though, there's plenty to soak in, from the good, to the bad, to the very, very weird, and true to the series' form, there was a high abundance of WTF moments in this spin-off.

From odd directorial quirks to strange performances, amusing nods to previous movies, some shocking brutal moments and two incredibly jarring attempts at exploiting nostalgia, these are the moments you're probably going to remember the most from the movie, both for better and for worse.

With massive spoilers to follow, here are 20 WTF moments from Star Wars: Rogue One...

20. There's No Opening Title Crawl

Though this was confirmed ahead of the movie's release, it was still rather jarring that the film opened with the usual "A long time ago in a galaxy far far away..." title card, but didn't follow up with the customary opening title crawl set to John Williams' iconic theme.

Instead, the movie went straight into a flashback sequence featuring a young Jyn Erso, and the movie's brief title didn't appear until about 10 minutes in.

It makes sense of course, considering that Rogue One is a delineated story in the Star Wars universe rather than a core entry, but it still left a lot of purists scratching their heads, especially as various comics and video games in the past have featured their own opening crawls regardless.
