After a gap of 10 years between Star Wars films, we're now going to have a new one to look forward to every single year for the foreseeable future. Try to contain yourselves.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens brought the franchise roaring back to life, and we can expect the new trilogy to continue in 2017 and 2019. Breaking up the latest Skywalker arc are a number of standalone films, the unfortunately named 'Star Wars Stories'. We've got a Han Solo film coming in 2018, with Hollywood's hottest comedy directors behind the camera, and an unknown one in 2020, with rumours ranging from Obi-Wan: The Tatooine Years to Yoda: Origins.

First up, though, is Rogue One. Basically representing Opening Crawl: The Movie, it'll show us in glorious, gritty detail the Rebel Alliance's efforts to steal the plans to the Death Star, promising a film less focused on the Force and more concerned with delivering a full-scale war in the stars.

Gareth Edwards (Monsters, Godzilla) is directing this one, with Felicity Jones and Mads Mikkelsen among the rather fantastic cast. Aside from that the film has largely been kept under wraps. With a December 2016 release date, we should be looking at a similar marketing campaign to The Force Awakens, however by this stage we were approaching the second teaser for Episode VII; we've yet to receive a proper look at Rogue One.

A first trailer can't be too far away (reports suggest it'll arrive with Captain America: Civil War), and when we finally get that teaser, there's plenty we need to see.

10. A Hint Of The Plot

In an era when spoiler talk has reached fever-pitch, and the notion of what actually constitutes a spoiler has extended to include an actor's hair, Rogue One is something slightly different, because it was already spoilt way back in 1977.

We know that the Rebel spies are going to succeed in getting their hands on the Death Star plans, but the fun of this film is going to be in seeing exactly how that plays out. It comes in the midst of Galactic Civil War, but any other clues are unknown.

It'd be good to get some hints to the beginning of this mission, and exactly how the plans to steal the Death Star are put into action, or perhaps it's in the midst of battle that the opportunity presents itself. However it goes down, it'd be exciting to see some initial clues as to how we can expect things to play out.
