Star Wars: Rogue One Trailer - 9 Things The Teaser Didn't Show

8. Princess Leia & The Droids

I genuinely almost forgot that it would not only be entirely possible for Princess Leia to appear during the events of Rogue One, but kind of warranted: she's an active member of the Rebel Alliance at the start of Episode IV, after all, a movie which could very well take place mere days after the events of this film.

She's also the person who ends up in possession of the plans that are to be stolen in Rogue One - plans which she ultimately hides away in R2-D2, thus triggering the plot of A New Hope.

So despite the fact that Leia has to receive said plans at the end of Rogue One - or, at least, the film has to insinuate in its ending that they will come into her possession somehow - she is absent in this trailer. Whilst that's not all too surprising, I still assumed, maybe, that there'd be a little reference to the Princess or something, given her status, but she isn't mentioned or glimpsed in any capacity.

The same goes for R2-D2 and C-3PO, who were certainly associated with the Rebels at the time of Rogue One's story, but will presumably have no part in this tale until they find themselves on board the Tantive IV with Leia in Episode IV's iconic opening scene.
