Star Wars: The Force Awakens – 10 Major Plot Clues From The New Trailers

TWO more trailers?!

Star Wars trailers are like buses: noisy and full of fighting. And just when you think there's none coming, all of a sudden there's too many and someone has lied to you about when you were supposed to expect them at all. Despite JJ Abrams' claims that the "final" trailer was definitely going to be final, he and Disney broke their own promise by releasing a fourth, super-final trailer for Japanese audiences, and included a bunch of new footage with some pretty major reveals involved. And then the first TV Spot was released with even more narrative teases. So you're forgiven as a Star Wars fan for trying to keep your head from spinning. Sifting through the new footage has been an inevitably rewarding experience, with some theories semi-confirmed, some new pertinent questions thrown out and an awful lot of BB-8, in case anyone had forgotten that Disney want us all to think she's SUPER CUTE. So what did we learn?

10. BB-8 Is A New Friend

It was easy to assume that BB-8 and Rey were long time companions, but the new trailer seems to reveal that they've just met (why else would they be discussing where they come from randomly)? Could it be that the little roller droid has been sent to Jakku specifically to find Rey? In that case who is behind that mission? While everyone's concerned about the revelation that Luke's actually a bad guy, could the real twist might be something even more sinister? The Star Wars "rhyming" in this regard could be focused on the fact that droids carry hidden messages and secrets. Could it be - unthinkably - that the character who has shoe-horned itself into fandom the quickest since the first reveal is actually an Empire stooge? And can someone please explain how it is some characters can understand the beeps and boops of droids (this time sounding very much like Gizmo from Gremlins). If they're brand new friends, has Rey just inherited the ability? Does that hint at who her father is? The higher pitch beeps also confirm she's female. Can droids be gendered? What the hell would be the benefit of that - aside from sexbots?
