Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Ultimate Fan Demands That Will Never Happen

It can't all be fan-service.

Is there going to be a more fan-pleasing film in 2015 than Star Wars: The Force Awakens? From the looks of things so far, I'd have to say no. Over the past 12 months we've had two teasers, a full-length 'final' trailer, another trailer after that, a few TV spots, and some behind the scenes looks. Judging on everything that we have been allowed to see, it looks incredible. But more than that, it truly feels like it's a proper Star Wars film, and that they're treating it with the reverence it deserves while being unafraid to put their own spin on things. There was that first shot of the Millennium Falcon, being chased by TIE Fighters. The scene of Han and Chewie arriving "home." Leia and Han together again; lightsaber action; Stormtroopers; sunsets; and all the droids you're looking for. J.J. Abrams is a huge Star Wars fan, and it's clear he's bringing that sensibility to the movie. However, Abrams is also a filmmaker, and there's a reason he is in the director's chair and this isn't just some totally fan-made film. He can stay true to Star Wars, but ignore the demands from fans of including this or that in it. Sometimes, decisions have to be made for the greater good, and The Force Awakens has to stand on its own two feet, meaning that it can't just be pure fan-service, and that some things die-hards desperately want to see (again) just aren't going to happen.
