Star Wars: The Force Awakens Ending - 10 Implications For Episode VIII

3. Kylo Ren And Finn Have Unfinished Business

While it's assumed that Kylo Ren and Rey will clash at the climax of Episode IX, the villain and Finn have to come together to resolve their own issues before that can happen. Finn represents one half of Ren's humiliation: after all, it was he who defied him first, then rescued Poe Dameron, then freed Rey and who almost matched him in battle without any training with a lightsaber. Basically, he made Ren look foolish, and there's no way the villain - who we already know is all about appearances - will let that slide as long as Finn lives. And of course Finn has his own agenda: to get vengeance for the wound that almost killed him, and to cast off his First Order history once and for all. Expect the two to lock sabers again. So, despite Rey's inevitable rise to power we might end up seeing a Harry Potter-like swerve where the friend of the chosen one lands a killer blow, rather than he himself. Or Neville Longbottom syndrome as it's more commonly known.
