Star Wars: The Force Awakens Ending - 10 Implications For Episode VIII

2. Luke Lives

So that's why he wasn't featured in the marketing heavily. Few would have predicted that Luke Skywalker would be so important to The Force Awakens without actually speaking a word on screen, but the decision to keep him out of primary focus has made it inevitable that the sequel will concentrate on his story far more. Luke is now a bundle of complex questions: his history with Kylo Ren needs to be explored - so too his first efforts to rebuild the Jedi - and we presumably also have to witness first hand his first meetings with the Knights Of Ren (in flashback form). Episode VIII will probably focus on filling in those gaps, as well as revealing more about Supreme Leader Snoke to create a mirror effect. And it's going to be hugely intriguing to see how he came to be standing on that rock that doesn't appear to even have a toilet.
