Star Wars: The Last Jedi - 10 Concerns Raised By The Full Trailer

Okay, so according to Wookieepedia, Porgs are "a sea bird species native to the planet Ahch-To, where Jedi Master Luke Skywalker made his exile."

Fine. There's nothing wrong with that. But somehow, over the course of the events depicted in The Last Jedi, we know that one of these little fellas is going to end up aboard the Millennium Falcon riding shotgun with Chewbacca. We know this because we've seen it happening in the new trailer, with said Porg glimpsed atop the dashboard of the iconic vessel looking absolutely bloody terrified.

Porgs are already a thing. They've gone full meme, months before the movie has even hit theatres, and Star Wars fans - and non-Star Wars fans, to a degree - have jumped aboard the hype train and are refusing to deny their cuteness.

The fact that the Porgs feature so prominently in the new trailer could just be the sum of a marketing ploy, of course; an effort to draw in younger audiences or those who like cute, fury sea birds that look like hamsters (which is everyone), but there's also a chance we're looking at the next Ewoks, folks, and that's bad.

Here's hoping that these creatures really do play a minor part of the story, as Rian Johnson has promised fans, and that the director has shown some genuine restraint when it comes to this particular species of sea bird.
