Love him or hate him, Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren is a fascinating addition to the Star Wars saga. Conflicted yet deadly, powerful but also vulnerable - he undeniably has more depth than the majority of Star Wars’ rogues gallery.

The idea that Kylo may not be quite as evil as he seems has been floating around for some time now but there is actually precedent for this being the case. Being that he admits feeling the call of the light to his dead grandfather’s helmet, it’s not a stretch to believe that there’s some sort of redemption in his future.

The novel ‘Dark Disciple’ follows a Jedi and a Sith joining forces to combat a greater evil and, taking a look at Snoke, it’s clear that he’s not exactly the most cuddly fellow in the galaxy. It would be a very cathartic to witness Kylo ‘Ben Solo’ Renn make amends for committing dramatic lightsaber patricide by deciding to join up with Rey and Luke to save the galaxy from the freaky looking tyrant.

If this is the route they’re taking, it will be interesting to see how they stage the reconciliation, especially as he didn’t leave things with Luke on the best of terms. Undoubtedly the identity of Rey’s parents and a potential link between her and Ren will have something to do with it and this is highly likely to be something that will be revealed during The Last Jedi.
