5. The Opening 'Jump Scare'

The Last Jedi's teaser trailer opens on a shot of a starry sky, before this cleverly fades into the rocky ground of Ahch-To, the island that Rey finds her way to at the end of The Force Awakens.

Her hand then quickly slams into frame, shattering the eardrums of those who'd mistakenly turned up the volume because the handful of seconds before this were so quiet.

This 'jump scare', of sorts, instantly evokes the very first shot of The Force Awakens' teaser trailer, which also featured a character popping into frame out of nowhere - in this case, Finn - complete with a similarly loud musical cue.

So, a word of warning to you all: when the first trailer for Episode 9 drops in a couple of years from now, do not wear headphones.
