Star Wars VII: 10 Expanded Universe Characters Who Deserve To Appear

Kyle Katarn Despite the Star Wars series seemingly being in good hands with director JJ Abrams directing and a string of capable writers being responsible for the screenplays, rumors that the series will completely bypass the Expanded Universe come as a bit of a disappointment. The Expanded Universe contains a wealth of material covering hundreds of novel, comics, and video games and contains several characters and stories loaded with cinematic potential. Many of these characters are really well developed and have gained large followings, but now might well be completely swept under the rug in the new films. The following ten characters are from the expanded universe and have tons of potential to be great movie characters and somehow, Disney needs to find a way to fit them into the universe they're planning.

10. Talon Karrde

Talon Karrde In the aftermath of Jabba the Hutt's demise, Talon Karrde picked up the pieces to become one of the most powerful smugglers in the galaxy. What made Karrde special was that most people had no idea just how successful he was as he kept much of his accomplishments hidden in order for him to be more effective. Karrde relied on a massive intelligence system to keep himself more informed than anyone eles in the galaxy, enabling him to always be one step ahead of the competition. Karrde was initially ambivalent towards the New Republic, at one point imprisoning Luke Skywalker on his ship headquarters the Wild Karrde. Later though he had a change of heart and was instrumental in obtaining information vital to the defeat of Grand Admiral Thrawn. Karrde would be an essential character if someone ever adapted the Thrawn trilogy (even though it will sadly never happen). Who Should Play them: Michael Shannon

I love movies, literature, history, music and the NBA. I love all things nerdy including but not limited to Star Wars, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, and Firefly. My artistic idols are Dylan, Dostoevsky, and Malick and my goal in life is to become like Bernard Black from Black Books. When I die, I hope to turn into the space baby from 2001: A Space Odyssey.
