The first
Starship Troopers was a really fun flick and although I'll admit it was a mindless B-Movie which relied heavily on it's special effects...... it was still god damn entertaining. A sequel to the movie was released in 2004 titled
Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation which was made straight for dvd on a paltry budget of $7 million (compared to $100 million for the first film). Needless to say the film was panned everywhere. The third movie will again be written by
Ed Neumeier who wrote the screenplays for the first two movies but this time will also be stepping into the director's chair. He said the following to
Moviehole....
"Plans are afoot to shoot next year. Casper Van Dien will be back as Colonel John Rico. There'll be a new bug or two. Also draft riots. Religion makes a comeback. And the Federation has a new weapon." No word on the size of the budget for the film but
IMDB have it listed on there site as going straight to dvd again so I wouldn't get too exicted over this flick. Shame really, if they put money into it then the film would probably work. source -
