Stephen King's It Remake Trailer Is Perfectly Terrifying

So, that's horrifying then...

Ever since it was announced, there's been some cynicism projected at Andy Mschietti's remake of Stephen King's It. There was surely no way anyone could every out-do Tim Curry as Pennywise the clown, right?

The thing all of that pre-emptive criticism missed is that the beloved TV mini-series that starred Curry wasn't actually all that good. He might have been creepy, but the film wasn't scary enough and the finale was just plain dumb. Obviously, the new go will have issues with the ending as well, as it's still King's text, but if it goes some way to cranking up the scares it will be a winner.

Any greatness from Bill Skarsgard's new Pennywise too will just be a bonus.

The good news is that the first trailer for the film is completely terrifying. It captures that sort of Amblin-a-like Stranger Things nostalgic vibe, as well as a tangible Kingian tone, and there's lots of hints that the 2017 Pennywise is going to be just as horrible as Curry's.
