Suicide Squad: 14 Obscure Easter Eggs You Probably Missed

The Killing Joke, cat posters and Angle Man... WTF

However you feel about Suicide Squad, there's no denying the fact that it knows its roots.

It's a film so drenched in DC references - despite the inversions and accusations of wanton destruction of the source - that I suspect that more Easter Eggs will continue to appear when the blu-ray is released. After all, you have to remember, it's a film made for the fans by fans, so fan service is bound to play a big part.

Some of those Eggs are a lot more obvious than others, but David Ayer and his team made sure to pack in enough subtle and well-hidden references to keep the next level hunters delighted too. Now that the dust has settled on the film and it's passed the $500m mark, now's the perfect time to show off how many were spotted.

Here are the best obscure Easter Eggs, in-jokes and references you probably missed in Suicide Squad...

14. Harley's Crime

When the film initially came out, most people seem to have missed the fact that Harley's crime slate that greets her introduction from Amanda Waller includes a pretty choice fact.

According to her wrap-sheet, she was involved in the death of Jason Todd. Specifically it reads "accomplice in the murder of Robin", rather than being a straight up confession as some sites initially reported it.

We should really have guess as much, actually: Harley's most famous speech from her debut in Batman: The Animated Series, which is emblazoned on her bat ends with "the joke's on you". It was all there right in front of us.

Perhaps that's why Batman is so rough with her when he resuscitates her? Because he knows exactly how dangerous she is after witnessing her helping kill Robin?
