Suicide Squad 2: 10 Big Reasons To Be Excited

Getting the squad back together.

The second Suicide Squad mission could look dramatically different from their last, and that's what makes it worth getting excited about. The first Suicide Squad had huge potential, but production issues infamously led to an utterly disappointing end product.

There's still promise in the series though. And while details on the sequel are particularly scarce at the moment, especially after the mix-up between Birds Of Prey and SS2's original script, the project is already rather promising.

A completely fresh script and no director just yet means the film's still some way away, but even with what is known about the film so far (combined with the potential story scenarios and included characters), the hype train is definitely getting ready.

Regardless of your opinion of Suicide Squad, this sequel could easily bring both haters and lovers of the original film together (if done properly)...

10. A Fresh Start

Joker SS2

Serving as a representative of what seems to be happening with the DCU, Suicide Squad 2 appears to be a soft reboot of the series. There are plenty of perks of getting to add onto an already-established continuity, particularly the option to avoid a bunch of forced introductions and set-up. However, if you're a new filmmaker with specific ideas in mind for a series, it's difficult to implement them in a continuity that already has established canon.

That said, one of the best components of Suicide Squad is its revolving door of characters that can always come and go at any given moment. With a new writer coming for the sequel, they can feel free to include whoever they want because that's the nature of the Squad: pick those who fit the job, not just those who were in the previous film.

This is a great opportunity for the screenwriter and director to craft their own distinct vision without compromising the previous film. The Suicide Squad that came before doesn't have to be copied and pasted in this second installment.
