Suicide Squad: 6 Things You Missed About Jared Leto's Joker

3. He's Fifteen Years Older Than Heath Ledger's Joker

Heath Ledger was just 27-year-old when he played the Joker in Christopher Nolan's gritty sequel The Dark Knight. Jared Leto is 43. Though he doesn't really look his age (Leto appears to be eternally 34-years-old), it's interesting to note that his version of the character has a whopping fifteen-years jump on Ledger's own - a substantial amount. Granted, it hasn't been made clear as to how old the Joker is supposed to be in Suicide Squad, but given that Ben Affleck is being poised as an older, far more tired Bruce Wayne in the accompanying Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, it's safe to assume that Leto will also be playing close to his age as to cement their long-standing history. When you realise that Leto is so much older than Ledger was, it really changes the way that you perceive this character; he doesn't look like an "old" Joker, but that's essentially what he is - still full of manic energy, but battered, bruised and scarred... just like Batman.
