SUPERMAN: MAN OF STEEL partly set in Africa, Anne Hathaway considered for Lois Lane

Moderately reliable Australian film site What's Playing are carrying the rumour that Zack Snyder's forthcoming Superman: The Man of Steel reboot will be partly set in West Africa when filming begins in June. They say the script depicts Clark Kent as;
€œa young journalist, traveling for the globe, who would rather solve problems and help people without resorting to using his special powers... the plot involves Clark getting involved in some sort of battle between two tribes in West Africa.€
This jives with previous rumours that the new movie would be;
Clark Kent a journalist traveling the world trying to decide if he should, in fact, even become Superman.
What's Playing also hint that the second act takes place in Smallville;
€œWhen he is compelled to use his secret powers to intervene in a crisis in West Africa, Clark returns to Smallville to learn more about his origins and the hero he was born to be€.
So it's Superman Begins, essentially? This rumour sounds legit enough when you remember the film was initially pitched by David Goyer, who basically conjured up the exact same plot with the Batman character five years ago. His script for Batman Begins depicted Bruce Wayne traveling the world trying to find himself before coming back to Gotham and picking up the mantle of The Dark Knight. The other part of What's Playing scoop is that Anne Hathaway is being 'considered' as a potential Lois Lane, which is a little odd considering they haven't as yet got a Man of Steel in place - but we are willing to play dice on this story. The reason being she's already said to have met with Chris Nolan over one of two female lead roles in The Dark Knight Rises, so it wouldn't be that much of a stretch to the imagination for any of us if Nolan saw a special quality in her and decided she would be better suited to the other superhero franchise he is spearheading. Of course it's all early days and we should treat this firmly as rumour for now. We would think Nolan would pick a Superman before he would pick anything else HOWEVER if Hathaway did impress in that meeting recently, then maybe she has delivered Nolan an early gift?
