With the entirely trivial task of saving the world in three separate points in time taken care of, our intrepid gang now find themselves at something of a loose end. There's a whole new world for them to live in now and, unlucky guys, but it's 100x more grim than the post-apocalyptic machine future they were trying to prevent.

Right at the top of their crash-course in modern life (right after eating at Chipotle and spending an afternoon with Dr Dre's seminal 1992 album The Chronic) will be getting online. First with furrowed brows, then with mouths slightly agape, and finally with baffled horror emblazoned across both their faces, they learn that the terrifying digital behemoth they've dedicated their lives to destroying has been around since, well, the late 90s.

"I don't understand" pleads Connor, "Genisys' power came from its ability to connect every device on the planet, but this 15 year-old rental car I've got just paired itself to my mp3 player without even prompting me. It doesn't make any sense..."

The room falls completely silent as everyone exchanges an awkward glance.

"Oh, yeah, right, nothing does. Sorry".
