The Avengers 2: 5 Female Avengers We Don’t Want to See

5. She Hulk

Considering the difficulty directors have had with the Hulk (the male version) in the past, and the worry that his character wouldn€™t work in The Avengers because of the previous failures of the Hulk movies (he worked fantastically well in the end), including the She Hulk in any of the upcoming films would be a disastrous move. Whedon worked tirelessly to make the Hulk cool again for the screen, but even he probably couldn€™t pull this superhero off. The cousin of Bruce Banner, She-Hulk (Jennifer Walters) is a top lawyer and regularly provides legal counsel for the many various Marvel superheroes. She gained her Hulk like powers after a transfusion of gamma-irradiated blood from her cousin. She is considered the strongest known woman in the Marvel Universe. This sentence sounds like she would be a good, empowering choice for the film, however, just look at her. Not only is her skin completely green (which yes, just about works for the Hulk, however he resembles a monster not a supermodel) which would just look weird on the big screen (see that green chick in Star Wars) but the appearance of this character has always seemed a little sexist to me, clearly designed just to appeal to a male straight audience, and for this reason she would be far from an empowered choice. Plus, this character's origin and creation came about because Stan Lee was afraid the TV series, The Incredible Hulk was about to introduce a similar female character, and to make sure they owned the rights for the character if ever it would appear, created the She-Hulk. Not the best starts for a superhero, and would make a terrible addition to either a Hulk movie or The Avengers 2 or 3 (or 4 or 5 or 6€ if these happen).

I am a recent Screenwriting for Film and Television graduate from the UK. I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
