The Avengers 3: 5 Marvel Heroes and Who Will Play Them

5. Ant Man

Already confirmed by Marvel to be joining the Avengers universe, in a film directed by Edgar Wright, this film will most likely come out before The Avengers 2... Simon Pegg revealed Edgar Wright was starting filming on this next year... but as of yet, no release date has been set. But just know, you will certainly be seeing this character on the big screen sometime soon. Rumours are that a post credits scene in Iron Man 3 will feature the Ant Man. Dr. Henry €˜Hank€™ Pym is a biophysicist and security operations center expert who, after discovering a chemical that would allow him to alter his size, decided to become a superhero. His powers include increasing and decreasing his size dramatically, and like many Marvel superheroes, he has a genius level intellect. Along with his wife Janet Van Dyne aka The Wasp (who he grafted wasp wings below her shoulders which appear when the character shrinks) the two featured together in the first Avengers comic, and were the founding members of the teams. He also has a pretty strange looking uniform that will definitely be difficult, though potentially very interesting when translated to screen. Who Will Play Him: Adrian Brody. A fantastic Oscar winning actor who has already dipped his toe into the science fiction world (Predators), rumours were that he wanted the role back in 2010 and had his agents try to obtain it for him. He also admitted that there were truths to the reports, so this actor is a very likely candidate. He looks a good enough fit for the role, and considering The Avengers likes to cast critically adored and respected actors most well-known for more indie dramas as opposed to big blockbusters ( for example every Avenger that isn€™t Chris Evans of Chris Hemsworth) this seems like it makes a lot of sense. If not, Nathan Fillion's name has been linked to the project for a while (along with many superhero projects for example the Green Lantern) and Edgar Wright and Fillion once appeared in a photo together at Joss Whedon€™s house (Avengers director) so maybe Fillion could very well land the part. Much more likely now, considering Whedon will direct the sequel and Fillion was the main star of his too short lived TV series Firefly. Is he a big enough name for the film? Probably not. But that hasn€™t stopped Marvel before and he is certainly better known than Chris Hemsworth was.

I am a recent Screenwriting for Film and Television graduate from the UK. I am an unashamed geek who loves everything Marvel, and anything Joss Whedon has ever touched (except for maybe Alien Resurrection and Titan A.E). My current favorite TV shows are Breaking Bad, Family Guy, House of Cards, Game of Thrones, American Horror Story, Homeland and Glee. I look forward to debating things with all of you in the future.
