THE AVENGERS: New German Trailer Arrives

Yesterday went a bit nuts in terms of trailers landing here there and everywhere, and though a certain Dark Knight probably diverted much of the superhero loving community's attentions, Germany was also handed a brand new trailer for Joss Whedon's upcoming supensemble (definite new genre term there), which you can see below... http://youtu.be/4EFvDM9xTrc My only major concern here is how Whedon has made this a genuine ensemble film, because this trailer - which will no doubt be released to other European markets very soon - still looks a little fragmented in terms of how the characters are presented. We definitely don't just want a bloated film in which each of the major players is given their own segments with superficial "team-up" scenes knitting them together - because that would essentially simply be a series of super-vignettes, and would be better served as stand-alone single movies. Anyway, I have faith in Whedon's ability, but this trailer isn't as confidence-building as I would have liked at this stage (the dubbing helps noone either). Especially in light of the haymaker Dark Knight Rises trailer than DC and Warners officially unleashed yesterday. Since not everyone is German, here's a transcript of what is said, thanks to Bleeding Cool:

Banner: And if I say no? Black Widow: Then I€™ll convince you. 0:36 Stark: Let€™s see who we have here. A few super assassins. A man with breathtaking anger management problems. A demi God. A super soldier. And€ me. 0:55 Off-screen: Gentlemen. What are you prepared to do? 1:03 Stark: Don€™t be mad but I don€™t like to play with the other kids. 1:05 Captain America : A big guy in a suit of armour. If you take it away, what are you then? Stark: A genius. Billionaire. Playboy. Benefactor. 1:15 Thor: You have no idea what you are dealing with! 1:18 Banner: We are no team. We are a time bomb. 1:25 Stark: If we can€™t protect the world, the Avengers will avenge you. 1:44 Stark: You€™ll have to train a bit more.

The more astute Avengers watchers among you will notice that second line is a bastardisation of what looks to be the unofficial tagline of the film - "If we can't protect the world, you can be damned sure that we will Avenge it" - which appeared in the first trailer. And sounded much better. The Avengers is set for release in the UK on 27th April 2012 and a week later in the US.
