2018's The Batman is possibly the most highly anticipated of the entire DC Extended Universe slate, promising a fresh take on the caped crusader thanks to the guiding hands of director Ben Affleck and producer Geoff Johns. Though Affleck's portrayal of Batman was widely acclaimed in Batman v Superman, many fans and critics took umbrage with the characters actions - particularly his murderous tendencies and savage methods.

Though the DCEU seems to be on a course correction beginning with the Justice League, Affleck has his work cut out for him if he is to please audiences with his take on The Dark Knight, uniting the staunchest of BvS supporters along with its biggest critics. The film was polarising and in a way this gives the production a wide berth to right the apparent wrongs of the DCEU to date.

Here are 10 things Ben Affleck has to absolutely nail in Batman's first solo outing in this new and rapidly expanding universe.

Batman threatens Lex Luthor with imprisonment in the famed Arkham Asylum at the closing of Batman v Superman making it a must that we see the latest incarnation of the famed asylum The excellent Arkham video game series brought in an entirely new audience of Batman fans and utilised the location perfectly to build a sprawling and at times claustrophobic narrative.

It would be criminal of Affleck to not take the opportunity to flesh the famed prison for the criminally insane. Whether it’s a short visit or an extensive action set piece within the confines of the asylum, Affleck has an excellent opportunity to merge the visceral fighting of the famed video game series with his down to earth and gritty aesthetic – not to mention pay a visit to the countless villains Bat’s must have imprisoned in there over the years.

An absolute must.
