The Batman: Dream Casting Matt Reeves' New Trilogy

8. Alfred - Michael Keaton

Michael Keaton Spotlight
Open Road

It might not be entirely likely, given his past performances as Batman, but there's something delightfully appealing about the idea of bringing Keaton back to Gotham for a legacy casting role. It would be somewhat like Sylvester Stallone's Rocky guiding Adonis Creed along the same road as he trod only even more poetic.

The best vision of Alfred is as an ex-soldier who was obviously handy in his service days, who has grown into his duties of care to Bruce Wayne not because he's softened, but because of his heart and convictions. Keaton could deliver on all of those fronts (remember the almost silent promise of his physicality as Bruce Wayne?) as well as bringing some of the same dark charisma that Jeremy Irons did for the DCEU's Alfred.

And aside from the fan-bait of casting him, having an Alfred far removed from Michael Caine's almost maternal version would be a smart move.
