The Collector Won't Be In Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 (But May Be Back Eventually)

Benicio del Toro hasn't had a call from Marvel.

For those of you who were desperate for more of Benicio Del Toro's creepy haircut, I'm afraid that you won't be seeing it again anytime soon. ComingSoon caught up with Benicio Del Toro and asked him whether he'd be reprising the role of The Collector in Guardians Of The Galaxy 2, to which the actor replied; €œI don€™t think so... They would have told me, I hope€ I do hope to play that character again at some point.€ The Collector as a character got a lot of hype in the run-up to the release of the first Guardians pic; the assumption was that Del Toro would play a much bigger part in proceedings than what he actually ended up doing, which was stand around for five minutes giving exposition on the Celestials and the Infinity Stones. It was a bit of a waste. A shame, then, that he won't be back for Vol. 2. There's going to be a whole host of other new characters to be enjoyed, though, so by and large the Collector probably won't be missed; we've got the rumoured inclusion of Mantis, for one and the hubbub surrounding Kurt Russell being courted for the role of Star-Lord's father. Expect more casting announcements to slow unfold over the next few months as pre-production really heats up. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is due for release on 5th May 2017.
