Do I really have to say the S word? The one that rhymes with “Oilers”?… Fine. If you haven’t yet seen The Dark Knight Rises and don’t want to read any spoilers then for the love of all things nerdly don’t read this article if you don’t want to be spoiled!
Now that that’s outta the way, some of you may recall that I recently listed a bunch of example of why a Batman Reboot would be great to see on the big screen. Well now that I’ve seen the movie, and while still standing by my thanix cannons here, I’m gonna admit that the doors aren’t as closed as I thought they would be to doing another movie in the Nolan-verse. So grab a can of OK Soda, then shed a stoic tear when you realize that you can’t do that because OK Soda stopped being made back in the 1990′s before you were likely to have even heard of it and grab a soda of your preference and sit back while I spout off some ideas.

Well I have seen THDR and loved it. I am not ready to see the end of the Batman series. I think you have some great ideas for how to continue in the Bat universe and I hope the powers that be, either read your ideas, have similar ideas of their own, or at the very least there comes a screenwriter and director to keep the flame burning and bring back more movies in this vein. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the kind words. With a bit of luck and lot of hard work I hope to someday be a screen writer working on flicks like these.
I’d like to see Aronofsky conduct a Joker origin story in a similar vein of artistic direction as Black Swan. I’m at a loss as to who could be cast as the Clown Prince. But I think there’s a gold mine out there for such a story.
Aronofsky would be brilliant for that. Although, I think it’d be a lot more fun to have an unreliable narrator story. The Joker could be in Arkham telling his story to the various psychologist and having a different tale for each one.
Also, as far as casting goes I’d prefer an unknown. Something similar to Brandon Routh in Superman III.2 aka Superman Returns. Find a competent actor that looks similar to Ledger and cast him in the role. Then that guy can go on to have a successful career like Routh has.
I would really prefer Robin John Blake becoming Batman Beyond’s Batman then some version of Robin. It would not make since him using his real name as his masked hero persona.
Well, no one knows his name is Robin because he goes by John. I agree it’d be more interesting to see him as a new Batman though.
I was kind of hoping for a Damian/Grayson storyline. They laid the groundwork with the Talia/Bruce scene, so I was really hoping that she would be left alive and pregnant. However, recent comics have revealed that she put Damian in a weird, exo-womb thing and didn’t actually carry him…but still hoping for a Nightwing/Robin colab. If only Talia hadn’t died, that’s where I would take the franchise…but who knows? The League works in mysterious ways.
I much prefer seeing that in a reboot with a new more sci-fi version of the characters.
