The Dark Knight Rises New Poster 3 Is Ugly & Lazy

Along with the bland viral marketing, it just feels like Warner Brothers just isn't trying.

The latest poster for "The Dark Knight Rises" has reared its ugly head on the Internet and it was NOT worth the wait. The last time around, in 2008's "The Dark Knight" era, every time a new poster came out, we fans were treated to brilliant new styles of artwork that could rival any found in a gallery. Remember the frosted window style with the Joker writing "Why So Serious?" and signing it in a way that created his garish grin in blood? It adorns my wall because it is haunting, beautiful, and awesome. Then we had the teaser poster with two graffiti black eyes and the blood drawn bat-logo to double as the Joker's smile. A truly ingenious twist on melding the two characters in a subtle artistic way. We also were treated to a poster of Batman's face Jokerized with a red smile. Done in a mosaic style that used Joker playing cards to build the image. Then there were the massive banners of Batman busting out of a building on the Bat-Pod or just standing in front of a window looking out on his city. The Joker banners were too unreal to even gaze upon. And now we have this new poster. It is essentially just the first poster of the Bat-logo as the sky (or street depending on point of view) just colored different to look like fire with Batman standing in front of it which makes no sense perspectively speaking. Where is he standing to see this view? Who knows. A very lack luster entry when compared to what has come before. Even "Batman Begins" had better posters. Now I have loved the Rises posters this far, but not nearly as much as "The Dark Knight's". Along with the bland viral marketing, it just feels like Warner Brothers just isn't trying. Sure they don't have to because everyone will see Rises one way or the other. But still we all know they can do much better.
