And so, the dust settles on The Dark Knight Trilogy, three films that revolutionised the superhero genre.
Christopher Nolan’s three epics spanned 7 years, bringing in billions in the box office and receiving plaudits and praise from critics and fans worldwide. Gone were the campy outfits, cheesy quips and bat nipples, replaced by dark, atmospheric and explosive film-making, featuring visionary cinematography, sublime acting and the perfect mix of emotion and action.
Nolan’s films were more than just superhero films, taking the genre in a new direction with a focus on Christian Bale’s Bruce Wayne. Gimmicky villains were replaced first by the terrifying Scarecrow, then the electric, chilling and unhinged Joker, and finally the brutal Bane.
The Dark Knight trilogy was far more human than it’s predecessors, drawing on real emotion and superb characterisation of a variety of rich and interesting characters. Nolan forged a tapestry of doom, showing Gotham fall to pieces around a dark, brooding Batman while he competes to save his city and avenge his parents.
Like a Michael Mann crime thriller with men in masks, the films received fantastic reviews, awards and ratings, with moment upon moment of jaw-dropping cinema slamming through the screens to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
It’s difficult to sum up how fantastic, innovative and powerful the trilogy is in a list compiling it’s greatest moments, but I have endeavoured to compile my favourite 15 of my favourite trilogy.
So, don the mask, get into the Tumbler, and let’s revisit the journey.

“So, don the mask, get into the Tumbler, and let’s revisit the journey.”
For the 100th time!
Really?
No disrespect for the content on this piece but – WHATCULTURE- write some articles on other movies!
This is bordering on the insane, no?
I agree with all of those great moments from a great trilogy. Although I personally would have made a top 16 just to put the intro scene for tdkr. I think tom hardy acted superbly on that plane heist scene it really showed you how dangerous and intelligent his portrayal of bane was. And if I’m not mistaken it used very little if any cgi.
Kudos on choosing the ‘INTERROGATION’ scene as ur number one trilogy moment. Its my absolute favourite moment as well. So powerful, horrific, creepy, sublime, shocking. Ledger is a powerhouse in this scene and Bale keeps up with him every step of the way. Can only imagine how incredible it must have been for those actors after shooting that. I bet Nolan must have thought “Yeah, this is gonna be something special”.
Couldn’t agree more with the top moment.
When Bruce revealed his identity to Gordon, that stands out to me, especially after seeing the flash back from Bgins, kinda brings the whole theme of the trilogy full circle, that anyone can be a hero, and that Gordon is Bruce’s hero.
Great List, but perhaps my favourite moment of the entire trilogy is in TDKR when Bruce climbs out of the pit. Just the score, and the chanting, and the bats flying out, and that silence when Bruce makes the leap in slow-mo. It just sums up everything and brings it all full circle. Pure genius!
Great list, there was so many good moments I’d have to a top 50!!
One to add could be the train fight at the end of Begins between Bats and Ra’s, great scene with both great acting and epic fighting, and Batman’s line “I’m not going to kill you, but I don’t have to save you”
As for Point 9, some people say that’s unrealistic or a plot hole… I say who gives a crap, it was an epic scene that felt great seeing the return of Batman.
For No.One i would chose ‘Bane crashing the plane with no survivors’
Bank Heist was better
1. Bane’s speech on the tank / In the stadium
2. Breaking the Bat
3. Joker Interrogation scene
4. Alfred and Bruce in TDKR
5. Bruce training with Ra’s
6. Joker vs Batman in street
7. Bane’s introduction
8. Batman defeats Bane
9. Talia and Bane backstory
10. Bank heist
seriously, the best moment was ”The Joker video Threat”..it’s scariet than anything Bane did in TDKR
The scene in Begins where he calls for “Backup” and the herd of bats show up should definitely be in the top moments.
