Today saw an overload of testosterone injected on to the internet in the form of The Expendables 2. Over the course of the day a number of websites unveiled some exclusive character posters released by Lions Gate Entertainment, with each striking an extremely masculine (sorry Yu) pose and toting some form of weapon – just in case you hadn’t understood that this is a film for men. It’s the Yorkie of films, if you will – al’wight!

The posters feature cast both old and new; Dolph Lundgren, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Jet Li, Randy Couture, Bruce Willis, Jason Statham, Terry Crews, Chuck Norris, Liam Hemsworth and Yu Nan.

After our team of lovable rogues accept a job from Mr. Church (Willis), the Expendables find out that it isn’t as easy as they first thought it was going to be – with one of their own being assassinated by a rival mercenary (Van Damme). Now the Expendables have to put an end to a plan to use a deadly weapon for, well – not doing things your mother would be proud of, and take revenge against the guy who killed one of their own.

The sequel will see Simon West (Con Air) take over directorial duties from Sly Stallone. Will this mean that we will get that extra injection of testosterone that the first film was marginally lacking? Not that I’m saying it didn’t put a few hairs on your chest, but at the rate this seems to be on scale for a full scale Chewbacca.

The Expendables 2 is due to be released in the UK on August 17th 2012.
