Her stratospheric rise to prominence, at the age of just twenty-two, can be attributed to a number of things, including her Oscar nominated turns in Winter€™s Bone and the Silver Linings Playbook (winning for the latter) and her down-to-earth persona. Three sequels are set to follow in the next three years, with the next, Catching Fire, out in November. Lawrence was not the only person in contention for the role, however, beating out between thirty and fifty other actresses who are believed to have auditioned for the coveted role or met with the film€™s director, Gary Ross, about the possibility of taking it. These include several who were more well-known than Lawrence at the time of the film€™s announcement, when the nevertheless excellent Winter€™s Bone was her sole film credit of note. What follows is a list of twelve individuals, in alphabetical order, whose unsuccessful efforts have been made public knowledge, and who might€™ve found themselves in Lawrence€™s current position had things gone a little differently....
