The Inbetweeners Movie 2 Confirmed For August 2014 Release

inbetweeners When it was released in the summer of 2011, The Inbetweeners Movie was well received by the critics and broke the record for most successful British comedy of all time, which it holds to this day with an estimated worldwide gross of £80 million. So it shouldn't be shocking news that a sequel is now in the works. Currently slated for a summer 2014 release (early August 2014), the film will be written by series creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris, and reunite the core cast of Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley, and Blake Harrison. Whether or not side characters like Donovan and Mr Gilbert will return remains to be seen but our main loveable losers are getting at least one more adventure. The development of a sequel will come as a surprise to some after speculation that The Inbetweeners Movie would be the franchise€™s end. Partly because the four lead actors are now hurtling towards their thirties, but mainly because of the opinion that another sequel might dilute the quality since the first film saw the overall story come to what felt like a natural end. Then again, to quote the official Inbetweeners Facebook page on the matter: €œWe couldn't just leave it with the last words of The Inbetweeners being 'Oooh, I think I've s**t myself'!€. Making the official announcement, Beesley and Morris commented €œ"Frankly it's pathetic how much we've all missed each other. A new chapter in the lives of the Inbetweeners feels like the very least we can do to thank the fans for their phenomenal response to the first movie." No plot details have yet been released but it€™s a possibility that at least one of the characters will be newly single at the start of the sequel so we can see yet more gloriously embarrassing moments of the Inbetweeners trying to pull. We€™ve still got a year to go before its release but hopefully it€™ll be worth the wait. See you then, Bumders.
