The Martian: 9 Things You Need To Know

3. It's Pretty Thrilling...

Although large parts of the film are going to be centred on one man on Mars, making repairs to equipment and trying to grow enough potatoes to feed him for a few hundred days, that doesn't mean that it's going to be short on action. Indeed the book is packed-full of events that are absolutely thrilling, and leave you in total suspense and desperate to continue reading and find out what has happened. There are a lot of close calls and things going wrong, and these are the cause for a lot of tension as a reader. Given they seem to adapting the book pretty faithfully, and there's plenty of action sequences in the trailer, the film should have plenty of similar moments, and the structure of the story means you'll be left waiting a while in order to find out just what's happening. Make sure to order plenty of cinema snacks, otherwise you'll be chewing on your fingernails.
