No wonder Kylo Ren made his own.

Ever since Luke first ignited his lightsaber in Obi-Wan's hut, Star Wars fans have wanted their own Jedi laser sword. That pesky thing known as "science" makes its impossible, of course, but that hasn't stopped us trying to mimic them, whether it's sticks in the playground or those awesome oversized hilts with a three-part blade that pops out (which, based on The Force Awakens' merchandise, is still the best way to make a retractable lightsaber).

Better than those, though, are the various high-end replicas - proper, movie-accurate designs with blades sturdier than those used on the films themselves. There's been all manner of them produced, although it looks like we've got a new market leader.

Put on sale as part of Star Wars Day (urgh), Vader's Vault have unleashed their Hero Custom Sabers, the best looking replicas I've ever come across - real brushed metal, accurate sound effects and insanely bright LEDs. Although it doesn't come cheap - the market price is an eye-watering $550 (you won't want to cosplay General Grievous with these... not that you'd want to be him anyway). Still, that can't shake how awesome they are!
