The Scorpion King gets director. Wait. We know this already!

AICN are two months behind OWF once again as they are reporting on a scoop which we brought you on June 14th. That scoop being that Russell Malachy, the Aussie helmer who directed the original Highlander has been hired to bring us a Scorpion King prequel starring a completely new actor who will have to replace The Rock. This has all come about obviously because of the third Mummy movie and it's an attempt to restart another franchise which could potentially take over the "Mummy" mantle, if you get what I mean.

At least there are some further developments on this movie to talk about here. We now know that shooting will begin on October 1st with the official title being The Scorpion King: Rise of the Akkadin. Wow. Real catchy guys! The hunt is said to be one for someone who has a resemblance and similar stature to The Rock but who is a lot younger. Good luck with that guys! The Scorpion King was a terrible movie but it had some nice idea's and could have worked if they didn't go for the conventional action b-movie routine.
