The first trailer has finally dropped for The Wolf of Wall Street, the latest collaboration between Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio, one that is sure to have the film world buzzing ahead of Oscar season. The trailer introduces us to DiCaprio’s Jordan Belfort, a real-life New York stockbroker who refuses to co-operate with the FBI during a fraud investigation, and the subsequent battle with the authorities that ensued.
This seems to be Scorsese at his most energetically unrestrained in quite some time, and many will of course be speculating on whether this might finally be the film to scoop DiCaprio that Oscar he has been evidently chasing for so long. We also get a glimpse at the work of some of the supporting cast members, namely Jonah Hill, Joe Bernthal and Matthew McConaughey, the latter of whom seems to be on particularly demented form.
As awards season kicks off in a few months time, expect this one to be a key player in all the major categories, and short of an uncharacteristic blip to the director, we should have a supremely entertaining film on our hands here.

The Wolf of Wall Street is released in the US on November 15th, and January 17th, 2014 in the UK.
