The World’s End: 10 Reasons to Be Excited

10. The Core Premise

Details about The World€™s End€™s plot have been slowly coming on for a while now. Basically, it runs as follows: 20 years after a failed attempt at an epic pub crawl (which culminates at The World's End), five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying it again. It€™s a simple premise but what shines through for me is how closely it reconciles with the reality of my generation. I€™ve attempted a similar pub crawl myself, one which took me from Liverpool City Centre all the way to my home at the time in Liverpool€™s student area, Smithdown Road (which is quite a trek, drunk and on foot). Ten pubs. 3 men. Mucho sick. That€™s one reason I€™m so excited to see this film. It promises to relate to me and allow me to relate to it. I can€™t be the only ex-binge drinking student on WhatCulture! can I? Of course, as per the usual Pegg/Wright hallmark, all is clearly not what it seems. I€™m unbelievably curious; excited even to find out how they turn this core premise into something that resembles Shaun of the Dead or Hot Fuzz.
