The third entry in Wright and Pegg’s “Blood And Cornetto Trilogy”, the film once again reunites leads Simon Pegg and Nick Frost following the success of the previous two movies Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz.
Where “Shaun” was a homage to all things Zombie, and “Fuzz” all things police thrillers and testosterone filled action movies, The World’s End is a tribute to every classic end of the world movie you’ve ever seen.
Set 20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite with one of them hellbent on attempting to achieve the 12 stop drinking marathon again, to finally arrive at the fabled pub – The World’s End. Simon Pegg’s Gary King is the cheerleader for the attempt, playing a character very much in the vein of Shaun, who is now close to hitting 40 but is still trapped by the cigarette end of his teens. Attempting to reconcile past and the present, the friends realise the real struggle is more about the future of humankind than their own.
Recently pushed up to a UK release in the heart of the summer on July 19th, The World’s End also stars Martin Freeman, Paddy Considine, Eddie Marsan and Rosamund Pike. The World’s End opens in the US a month later.
