There's A New Contender For Doctor Strange...

There's yet another name in the hat for Marvel's elusive role.

Jack Huston has recently been connected with the role of Doctor Strange in the upcoming Marvel movie. According to This Is Infamous, the Boardwalk Empire actor is in the running for the part. Marvel has made no secret of the work that is going into this movie, although the list of stars affiliated with this role seems to be endlessly extending. Joaquin Phoenix was recently associated with the character, although Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hardy have also been linked to the role. The Marvel Cinematic Universe has given many great references hinting at future films and plot developments. In Captain America: The Winter Soldier a reference to a potentially dangerous Stephen Strange was made, clearly tempting audiences with the idea of a movie adaptation being in the works. Jack Huston is a relative unknown given the high profile rumours touted around with regards to Marvel€™s majestic Sorcerer. However, he has worked on Boardwalk Empire for a number of years and starred alongside the star studded ensemble of American Hustle, so he is not a complete unknown. Whereas many of the other contenders for the role are already household names this opportunity is in no doubt tantalising for the rising English actor. Marvel do not seem to show any slowing down in terms of cinematic output, so Huston€™s age (31) would arguably be preferable to Joaquin Phoenix€™s (39) if the character is set for a prolonged career. Doctor Strange may seem like a rather obscure character to include in the broadly scientifically based Marvel Cinematic Universe, but Thor has already mentioned that magic and mysticism can all be tied in to science in Asgard. This means that the mysticism of Stephen Strange clearly has a place within the universe. The Marvel Cinematic Universe thrives due to its diversity (it has the engineering genius of Stark, the genetic expertise of Bruce Banner and the new inclusion of galactic realms through Guardians of the Galaxy.) Doctor Strange will certainly add a new dimension to this dynamic. It€™s beginning to look like almost everyone remotely associated with Hollywood is going to be linked to this elusive role, and given Marvel President Kevin Feige€™s well known love for this character it looks like no expenses will be spared in finding the right actor for the job.
