Thomas Jane Returns as The Punisher!

Jane reprises Frank Castle in a new short, titled "Dirty Laundry".

Do you remember how you felt when Thomas Jane's name was dropped in link to a Punisher sequel? Pretty gutted, hu? We know we were. Well, at this weekend's San Diego Comic Con (#SDCC) he made his long awaited return to the role, complete with skull T-Shirt, but perhaps it isn't quite what fans were expecting. Jane, alongside comic book artist Tim Bradsheet, revealed a fan fiction short at the weekend's festivities to promote their new production company RAW Studios, which makes both film and comics during their panel - an unexpected treat for those in attendance. The short, titled "Dirty Laundry", chronicles the one man punishment squad's trip to the laundrette. While he chills out washing his smalls he overhears some trouble outside and in true Punisher fashion, the you know what hits the fan, Frank Castle style. As Marvel now once again own the copyright to the character it is entirely possible that The Punisher will be getting yet another reboot, and if Dirty Laundry is anything to go by then it's obvious Thomas Jane still has some interest in reprising his role as the character - an exciting prospect for all us fans. The Punisher first appeared with Dolph Lundgren in the titular role in 1989 and returned in 2004 in Jane's fantastic interpretation of the classic Welcome Back Frank series. As feet were dragged during the sequel process Jane eventually had to give up the ghost on returning and the role was eventually given to Ray Stevenson in an inferior but enjoyable followup. You can watch the video below, but be warned. If you're being naughty and watching this at work then we'd advise you stick some headphones in as this is not even a little bit work safe. Also, look out for a cameo from Hellboy himself, the one and only Ron Pearlman. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWpK0wsnitc For those of you who have followed Frank Castle's recent trials and tribulations in the long running comic series you'll be aware of the rather grisly fate that has befell his character of late. Hopefully he'll be enjoying a new lease of life on the big screen soon though. What do you think?
