Thor Ragnarok Reviews: 12 Early Reactions You Need To See

12. It's Hilarious

Even from the first trailer it looked as though Ragnarok was going to be a far funnier film than the po-faced The Dark World (though that film did try VERY hard to shoe-horn in some levity in the shape of the awful human characters), and it sounds like it delivers.

No doubt cynics will complain about the frequency of the gags, but you don't hire a director like Taika Waititi and ask him to make a serious movie. Let's all just see the fact that there's lots of talk about how funny it is as a positive and not get into the inevitable slagging match about the MCU being for kids. For that, just go to Twitter and find anyone who usually tweets about Zack Snyder being God and ask their opinion of the reviews.

And Chris Hemsworth has been praised in particular for his comedy work, which is a good thing, given his central position. Not that it should come as a surprise to anyone who saw Waititi's Civil War shorts.
