Time Traveler's Wife to get a script re-write

0099464462.jpgBack in October when the announcement that Rachel McAdams was in talks for the lead role (which still hasn't been made official), I said that Audrey Niffenegger's book The Time Traveller's Wife was impossible to film unless they totally watered it down and gave us only a fraction of the novel's power. I say this because today's news is that the script for the movie adaptation is to go through another re-write. This really doesn't surprise me at all. The guy brought in for the re-write is Bruce Joel Rubin who's previous scripts include Ghost and Deep Impact. What's the betting that this guy has been brought in to water down the script into a more manageable 2 hour length movie? The project has been in development since 2003 and over 3 years later they still haven't managed to get a completed script together to begin filming. No word yet on how this affects the 2008 release date, but we will keep you updated on this one! source - variety, coming soon
