The Michael Bay reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles has never been a popular subject of discussion among the hardcore fan base or the creators for that matter and the latest buzz is that Peter Laird – who worked on the original kick ass comic book with Kevin Eastman – has some serious doubts as to who Bay is looking to cast in the role of cagey reporter April O’Neil.
Writing on his blog, Peter Laird wrote;
“My only exposure to Megan Fox as an actress is through her role in two “Transformers” movies and the wretched (but happily forgettable) “Jennifer’s Body”. It may not be fair to judge her range of acting skills just from those three movies, but I think it is safe to say that there are probably hundreds of better choices for the role of April O’Neil. Of course, her name has promotional value, and maybe that’s what they want. Who knows? I can’t get myself too worked up about it.”
Whether Fox ends up in the final piece remains to be seen however Bay fuelled the flames himself when he made the following announcement on his blog:
TMNT: we are bringing Megan Fox back into the family!
As much as we love Ms Fox she certainly wouldn’t be our first choice in the role either however she’d certainly bring a little sex appeal to the film and given the rumour that Bay’s Turtles are Aliens and not mutants after all it’s becoming more and more apparent that this will be a complete departure from the TMNT’s we know and love.
Until filming begins this is all speculation of course and the last we heard producers were auditioning for the roles of Raphael, Michelangelo, Donatello and Leonardo all of who will be motion captured. Sadly it is unlikely that Corey Feldman will be making a return as Donny but with the way things are going who knows. Maybe we can hold out for a cameo?

What a sad man Peter Laird is,having a pop at an actress who hasn’t even started filming yet. He has got nothing to do with the film so he should keep his mouth shut,so should every other geek and nerd having a go at Megan just for being in a film of a truly crap cartoon.
Yeah but Megan Fox is legitimately terrible at acting.
i’m all for reboots and reimaginings, but the rumours around the turtles movies seems so detatched from the source, they’re as well as naming it something diffent starting a new franchise.
what Bay should look to would be a live action version of Centurions, or am i just hoping for an 80′s cartoon revival
and M.A.S.K. – that is well overdue!

Laird didn’t have a pop at Megan Fox for the sake of doing it. A fan asked him about the casting in the comments section of his blog, and he gave his opinion on the choice. Just like he did when fans asked him about Bay’s “alien” comments.
I thought it wasn’t confirmed that she was playing April in the movie
We haven’t 100% confirmed it but the news is doing the rounds now suggesting its finalised
